Kevin's 2-month Checkup

Kevin had his 2-month checkup today. I can't believe he's already two months old!!

He weighed 13 lbs, 4 oz (88th percentile)
He measured 24 inches (89th percentile)
His head is 40 1/2 cm (60th percentile)

This past week, he has really started to smile and coo often. I think I might have even heard him say "Goo" a few times! He seems to be a very laid back baby. I can set him down in his bed while he's still a little awake, and he will usually drift off to sleep. Ellie NEVER did that!! He is content most of the time and still seems to sleep a lot!

The doctor said his head looks good and not really any flatness. I see some flatness in the back, but she said his head looks great. I guess she's the Dr., so she knows!

Ellie still loves her brother! When visitors come over, Ellie wants to hold him throughout most of the visit. I think this is a way for her to get some of the attention and to show off her big sister skills!

I don't have much more to report. Kevin is healthy, happy and fun!

Back to TX for Grandma...

We brought my mom to the airport so she could fly back to Texas today, ending her more than two-week visit. We had lots of fun and completed lots of projects! This is the first time since Kevin was born (more than 8 weeks ago) that our little family unit (Chris, Kevin, Ellie and I) will be together on our own in our own place!

Today, after I came home from the airport, Ellie said, "It's just me, baby Kevin, and Mommy. No one else is here. I'm lonely." She's spoiled from always having someone else around for the last 8 weeks!

Ellie Feeds Goats

Children's Fairlyland

Last Saturday, we went to Children's Fairyland in Oakland. It was really fun. Ellie rode a carousel alone for the first time (a very slow carousel) and also rode a ferris wheel alone (a very slow ferris wheel)! They also had electronic storybooks that Ellie could listen to by using her key! Kevin slept through most of the day!

Lemos Farm

More pics from the farm!

Half Moon Bay

We went to Half Moon Bay today! It was a welcomed break from the unpacking!!

Ellie Rides a Pony!!

Catious Ellie rode a pony today!! She loved it! We've gone to this farm 4 times before, and she never would ride the ponies until today!

Chris in India!

Chris is having a nice time in India! He will be there for a total of 10 or 11 days! I'm glad he's having a great experience! Ellie and I are ready for him to come home!

Today at lunch, Ellie was telling me about her conversation with him. She said, "Daddy said a monkey climbed in the BUSSSS! And camels and snakes walked where cars GO! Isn't that SILLY?"

For more photos, visit...

Kevin - almost 7 weeks

Here are some new pics of Kevin. He still doesn't cry much. His 6-week growth spurt was well-timed! He slept through most of the unpacking! He has just started to be more awake again yesterday and today!

Back in CA!

We are finally back in CA for the rest of the school year. We have been working hard to set up the apartment and are almost done!

Ellie was excited to reunite with her friend Arden!

Kevin's First Bottle

Kevin had his first bottle on September 3rd. He took it right away and didn't seem to notice that anything was different! My babies just like to eat - they don't care where it comes from!

Torticollis Again?!?!

Here is a picture of Ellie at 3.5 months. Kevin is 4 weeks in his photo. I'm hoping I am wrong, but he seems to always look the same direction and tilt his head to the same side. The odds are not really in favor of torticollis. Since only about 1 to 2 percent of children have torticollis, it would be very unlikely that both of my kids would have it. Oh well! Time will tell!

Tour de Tejas!

We spent last week completing our Texas Tour! We visited friends and family in San Antonio, Austin, Temple, Dallas, and Nederland! We had a great time, and Kevin was very well-behaved! He didn't always love the long car rides, however! When we got home from the trip, we weighed him. At five-weeks old, he weighed around 11.5 pounds!

Innie or Outie??

Kevin lost the rest of his umbillical cord on August 25. Ellie also had her cord at around 4 weeks. I guess my kids like to hang on to things longer than most!!

Our Little Dolls!

Kevin is very cozy in Ellie's doll bed. It's good to see that we are putting her "big sister present" to good use! Ellie can't resist trying it out herself. She was pretending to be baby Isabella.

Kevin

Kevin is a good baby. He started smiling and cooing sometime around September 1. He sometimes smiles very big and it makes your heart melt! I also love his cute coo noises!

He sleeps well and usually gets in at least one five-hour stretch per night. Sometimes it's even 5.5 hours!

He seems to cry less than I remember Ellie crying. During her first few months, I can remember her fussing for 1 to 2 hours each night, while I rocked and shushed her to sleep. Kevin doesn't really do that.

He developed the baby acne, but it's almost gone now.
